Lilliputopia: A Tiny Eco-Farm    <\/strong>

In 7 years, Eliza & Thorin created a sustainable organic farm based on dry land farming. Their produce has an intensity of flavor that industrially raised produce cannot match. Learn what community effort can achieve.  They will open their store with locally made crafts. Wren Lumber Yard & Starker Forestry <\/strong>
Trail 7240 SW Philomath Blvd, Corvallis<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starker Forests, Inc., founded in 1936,  owns, grows and manages forests and strives for excellence in terms of forest resource stewardship. A fifth-generation family business, it endeavors to successfully meet the needs of its owners, employees and the community. 1st stop – Wren Hill: 30-45 minutes. See modern techniques for converting logs to lumber. The tour involves stairs & catwalks; hardhats will be provided.  2nd stop – Starker Forestry Trail: 1\/2 mile shaded walk to learn of and see stages of sustainable forest management (not tree farming) practiced for 5 generations. Because of parking limitations, we suggest meeting at C3 to form carpools then go to Starker Headquarters. A Starker bus will carry 13 persons and 3-4 carpools will drive from there to Wren Hill Lumberyard and to the Trailhead in Blodget.    Host: Barbara Galbreath<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Science Feeds a State: OSU Food Science & Technology <\/strong>
Withycombe Hall, 2091 SW Campus Way<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discover how innovation, sustainability, and flavor converge at Oregon State University\u2019s Food Science program. This behind-the-scenes tour offers an engaging look at the science and creativity driving the foods and beverages we enjoy every day. Visitors will explore OSU\u2019s creamery, winery, and brewery, along with teaching laboratories and the food pilot plant, where new food products are developed and scaled. The tour also features the wildfire smoke testing lab, highlighting research that helps protect food quality amid growing environmental challenges. Along the way, learn about OSU\u2019s leadership in sustainable food packaging that replaces single-use plastics and resilient food systems research focused on climate adaptation, food security, and supply-chain innovation.   Host: Steve Albright<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oak Creek Center for Urban Horticulture <\/strong>

The Oak Creek Center for Urban Horticulture is a 6-acre educational and research garden on the edge of OSU’s Corvallis campus. Currently, there are studies of honey bee health, landscape design for honey bee and wild bee co-existence, and dry farming. The site is also a place for teaching beekeeping, sustainable landscape maintenance, and organic market gardening\/farming. In this tour, you will see current projects in action. Parking is limited. Philomath Museum: Centuries of Celebration Exhibit Tour <\/strong>
<\/strong>1101 Main St, Philomath<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the grand spectacle of the 1876 Centennial to the patriotic fervor of the 1976 Bicentennial, this exhibit explores how Americans have commemorated the nation’s milestones. Featuring artifacts, memorabilia, and cultural symbols from both celebrations, the exhibit highlights how each era reflected the values, aspirations, and spirit of its time. Pre-registration required, tour size limited. No fee, but donations are welcome.   Host: Mai Kiigemagi<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greenbelt Land Trust: Current & Future Projects<\/strong>
Bald Hill Farm House<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Review 30 years of conserving land and water in the Willamette Valley for a more resilient future and learn of more recent acquisitions and restoration projects. Walk around Bald Hill Farm and observe their progress. We will meet at the Bald Hill Farm house and have a guided tour on a private trail.  Attendees are welcome to bring a picnic lunch and after the tour linger inside or outdoors and walk any of the nearby trails. The farm house has running water and restrooms.   Host: Barbara Galbreath<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
