ALL has a free guest membership program for Spring Term. Sign up any time between now and March to activate your Winter guest membership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regular members and anyone who has previously been a guest member are not eligible to participate in another guest membership program. The objective of the program is to show what ALL offers and entice people to become regular members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scholarships<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Scholarship applications are now being accepted for 2026-2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Note from the ALL Chair<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For 25 years, Corvallis\u2019s Academy for Lifelong learning (ALL) has offered adults learning opportunities in the areas of Science, Humanities, Global Topics, Arts and Issues & Ideas. Our members are intelligent and curious learners of varied backgrounds and education, representative of our community in many ways. ALL strives to meet its members\u2019 desires for presentations on new subjects and for different approaches to learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To determine where we can improve, expand learning, and provide new social opportunities, we sent out a survey to which 71 members responded. During last Winter Term, we also asked members to participate in a discussion on “Shaping ALL\u2019s Future,” which was well attended. The responses we gathered were thoughtful and at times enlightening. ALL established a small committee to review the responses and help set new directions for the Academy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As one of our first innovations, we have reserved time slots for eight Ad Hoc Class Opportunities at the Corvallis Community Center throughout this Spring Term. These time slots create an opportunity to bring in a presenter on a late-breaking topic, allow a member with a bright idea to organize a class, or add a class that could not be arranged in time to be included in the printed Schedule of Classes. As of this writing, five of the eight Ad Hoc Opportunities have been filled. These include discussion groups, a presentation from a County Commissioner, and an idea for an Informal Support Network of ALL Members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With time, we will try new class ideas and meeting opportunities. ALL is, of course, a volunteer organization that relies on its members to build its programs. I joined ALL 7 years ago and find much of my satisfaction comes not only from attending classes but also from meeting and working with an interesting group of people who want to make ALL the best it can be.
